Tundra has been wearing the Ruff Wear harness and seems to be just fine with it. He had his 10 day chemo follow-up blood-work today and we should know the results tomorrow. We received the Ruff Wear booties today and tried them on him. It was comical and we hated to laugh, but it looked like what we’ve seen when a cat gets tape on its paws. We tried not to laugh too hard or too loudly. Joyce walked him up and down the hallway a few times while I was on the phone describing the scene to a long-distance friend wanting to know Tundras status – and here we are laughing nearly hysterically. Oh, well, all in good humor and glad we can laugh. We’ll try again and take him for a walk.
it takes some time for them to get used to the booties. Kess did fine with just one on her back leg. She had so many procedures and wraps done on her other back leg before it was amputated that she seemed ready to accept on her hind foot. She now recognizes that it gives her traction in the house and happily rolls on to her back so I can put her bootie on.
Glad to hear Tundra is doing so well. We wouldn’t stay sane if we couldn’t laugh with love in our hearts while our pups work through this.
It took a couple times, but Wyatt got used to wearing his Ruff Wear boots. We recommend trying them on for short periods, with lots of positive reinforcement. And it is perfectly fine to laugh at their funny bootie walk while they get the hang of it! 🙂
PS: I answered your question about adding blog post photos in the forums. If you need further help after watching the tutorial, feel free to start a new topic.
Laughing is healthy and who can keep a straight face anyways about the bootie walk!?!
Happy Tundra is doing so great!
